Shelia and I attended the 3rd annual Amber Reineck House Gala this evening at Crystal Gardens. Courtney Atsalakis, Amber’s sister and the entire board of directors did a tremendous job.

There were over 400 in attendance tonight to support women who are fighting against addiction.

Listening to those who have been fighting addiction was heartbreaking. This is an epidemic occurring not only across our Country but also here in Livingston County.

Addiction can happen to anyone at anytime. A simple surgical procedure that requires pain medication has led to a opioid prescription crises that currently takes over 130 lives each and every day.

Drugs laced with fentanyl have resulted in a serious National crises that affects our public health as well as social and economic welfare.

It’s time for all of us to get involved as a community and support the efforts of Courtney Reineck and the Amber Reineck Foundation.

We can make a difference in so many lives if we come together, recognize that we have a huge problem and help those affected by this disease. Doing nothing will only lead to more deaths, further destruction of families and a community that ignores our citizens in need.

I encourage you to look up the Amber Reineck foundation, and/or reach out to Courtney Reineck or someone on their board.

Thank you to everyone who attended this very important event. Together as a community we can come together to fight this terrible disease. Let’s make a difference together.

God bless.
